Chapter 19 of Revelation celebrates the triumph of the Lamb, marking a glorious scene that testifies to Christ's final victory. This majestic text describes the heavenly praises, the marriage of the Lamb, and Christ's return as King of kings. The chapter reaches its climax with the defeat of the beast and the false prophet, revealing the themes of divine victory, perfect justice, and the establishment of Christ's kingdom.
Let us consider together five biblical passages that highlight the grandeur of this triumphant chapter.
"Who is this that comes from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments dyed scarlet? Who is he, clothed in splendor, that goeth forth with great power? I speak righteousness, mighty to save. Why are his garments scarlet, like those of one who treads grapes in the winepress? I alone have trodden the grapes in the winepress; Among the nations, no man was with me. I trampled them in my anger and crushed them in my fury; their blood was on my garments, and I stained all my clothes.
This vision of the divine warrior is echoed in the description of Christ in Revelation 19:11-16.
“Put a sword around your waist, O mighty one; dress yourself in majesty and splendor. In your majesty, ride victoriously for truth, humility, and righteousness; let your right hand perform glorious exploits.
This description of the messianic king relates to the image of Christ in Revelation 19.
"Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Call to all the birds and to all the wild animals: 'Gather yourselves and come; gather yourselves to the sacrifice that I am preparing for you, the great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.' You will eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, as if they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls, all of them well-fed from Bashan. In the sacrifice that I am preparing for you, you will eat fat until you are satisfied and drink blood until you are satisfied. At my table, you will be satisfied with horses and riders, with mighty warriors and soldiers of every kind,” declares the Sovereign Lord.
This prophecy about the judgment of the nations is similar to the scene of God's great meal in Revelation 19:17-21.
“You will flee through my valley between the mountains, for it will reach to Azel. They will flee as they fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and then the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with him.
This prophecy concerning the coming of the Lord with his saints parallels the description in Revelation 19:14.
"The day is surely coming, burning like a furnace. All the arrogant and all the wicked will be like chaff, and the day that comes will burn them up, says the Lord of hosts. They will be neither root nor branch. But for you who fear My name, the Sun of righteousness will rise with healing in His wings. And you will go out and leap like calves loosed from the pen. Then the wicked will walk, and they will be ashes under the soles of their feet on the day I act, says the Lord of hosts.
This prophecy concerning the Day of the Lord and the judgment of the wicked relates to the events described in Revelation 19.
