This powerful statement speaks to God's ability to reverse difficult situations and bring light into darkness. We invite you to explore with us five biblical passages that resonate with the themes of victory and gratitude present in this inspiring psalm, often quoted in the New Testament.

Matthew 21:42

"Jesus said to them, 'Have you never read in the Scriptures: "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is wonderful for us."

In this passage, Jesus quotes Psalm 118:22-23, applying it to himself as the rejected Messiah, thus emphasizing the depth of his role in the divine plan.

Acts 4:11-12

"Jesus is 'the stone which you the builders rejected, but which has become the cornerstone.' There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

The author of the Epistle to the Hebrews quotes Psalm 118:6-7, reinforcing the believers' trust in God in the face of trials and persecution.

1 Peter 2:4-5

"As you draw near to him, Living stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him—you are also used as living stones to build a spiritual house that will be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God, through Jesus Christ."

In this passage, Peter alludes to Psalm 118:22, extending the fundamental metaphor to all believers, calling us to be living stones in the building up of the Church.

Luke 13:35
